0 calorie/inexpensive coffee sweeteners Mar. 12th, 2009 @ 02:06 pm
so, i'm addicted to coffee. i drink it black, with some sugar, sugar substitite or sweetener, whatever really i'm not picky. i've been trying to save as much money as possible, so i've been buying big bags of plain old sugar. it is very inexpensive, but since i drink so much coffee a day the calories really add up.

i was wondering if anyone knows of any inexpensive options that would be either 0 or low calories.

i have an insulin resistance issue (but not diabetes. its PCOS) so i guess i need to eat low carb? avoid sugars?

but i'm vegetarian on a budget

and i have high cholesterol so i want to avoid eggs

...and i want to lose weight

can anyone think of anything, like small meals, that would be good? i'm really stumped.
like something small, low calorie, vegetarian, low carb, and SIMPLE! that i could have for breakfast? lunch? dinner? i can live without variety in a good diet.

i havent been able to find anything too helpful.
any suggestions would be great.

  So I'm a huge cheeser...so bad for you (when you can't help having moret han one serving!). 

I got these veggie cheese slices to put in my eggs and such. It only has 40 cal per slice, and hardly any fat. And with cheddar and Jalapeno falvors, they taste decent :)

I have been dieting since I was about 16, and nothing seemed to work. I tried restricting and starving myself, but that only led to binging. I exercised, took pills, was bulimic for a while until my parents got suspicious and threatened to take me to the doctor, but I never lost any weight. I learned that anything extreme just doesn't work. What did help was getting a personal, professional weight loss coach. She found my individualized diet that finally helped me shed the extra pounds. It was very easy, I talk to her on skype from time to time to get advise. I couldn’t have done this without her. She motivated me and kept me going all along, she was great.

» Saturated vs. trans fats?
trans fat is bad, but how bad? This FDA Web page treats saturated and trans fats as roughly equal, advising consumers to add the grams of saturated fat and trans fat and look for the lowest combined amount. On the other hand, this AHA Web page recommends limiting saturated fat intake to less than 7 percent of total daily calories and trans fat intake to less than 1 percent (because it's that much worse or because it's easier to avoid or ... ?) I don't know what to make of all of this.
